H2O Congo’s Statute


H2O Bringing Water to the Congo is an international and private Non Government Organization, founded in Canada by the sisters Nancy-Josee Ntumba Ciakudia and Barbro Mutombo Ciakudia , with purpose and its formal accountability are set out in its Statute. Key elements include:


Our vision and mission


H2O’s vision is of a world in which every person enjoys all of the economical and social human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights instruments. In pursuit of this vision, H20’s mission is to undertake action focused on preventing and ending grave abuses of these rights.


Our core values


H20 forms a global community of economical and social human rights defenders based on the principles of international solidarity, effective action for the individual victim, global coverage , recognizing the universality and indivisibility of human rights, impartiality and independence, democracy and mutual respect as bases to a sustainable development of the Republic of Congo and Africa.


Our methods


H2O addresses governments, intergovernmental organizations, armed political groups, companies and other non-state actors. H2O l seeks to support the population victims of war, disease, poverty, economical and social and economical human rights abuses accurately, quickly and persistently.

It systematically and impartially acts throughout development projects witch affect individual and group aiming to improve positively their condition of life. These findings and action are publicized, and members, supporters and staff mobilize public awareness on governments and others to help alleviate the poverty by the creation of a social climate favorable to the global development.


Our organization


H2O is an organization based on Canada and worldwide voluntary membership and it consists of national branches (sections and structures), international networks, affiliated groups and international members.


Our statutory accountability


Statutory Authority for the conduct of the affairs of the H2O is vested in our International Council whose primary functions are:

  • to focus on strategy;

  • to set H2O’s vision, mission and core values;

  • to determine H2O’s Integrated Strategic Plan including its financial strategy;

  • to establish systems and bodies of governance and delegation for the organization, to elect members to those bodies, and to hold those bodies and their members accountable;

  • to evaluate the organization’s performance against its agreed strategies and plans;

  • to hold national sections, structures and other bodies accountable.

An International Executive Committee is elected by the International Council and the Founders to provide leadership and stewardship for the whole of H2O worldwide. Its main functions are:

  • to take international decisions;

  • to ensure that there is sound financial policy and that the financial policy is consistently implemented across the international organization;

  • to ensure implementation of the Integrated Strategic Plan;

  • to make any necessary adjustments to the Integrated Strategic Plan and other decisions of the International Council;

  • to ensure compliance with the Statute;

  • to ensure human resources development;

  • to hold national sections, structures and other bodies of AI accountable for their functioning by presenting reports to the International Council;

  • to perform the other functions conferred on it by the Statute.

The day-to-day affairs of H2O Bringing Water to the Congo are conducted by the International Secretariat headed by a Secretary General under the direction of the International Executive Committee and Founders.
